Quinn McRoberts

My love for food began long before nutrition became complicated. Some of my earliest memories are in the kitchen- helping my parents cook, experimenting with my own creations, and finding joy in the creativity and connection that food brought into my life.

Like many young women, my relationship with my body shifted as I grew into adolescence. I became acutely aware of how I looked and how different my body felt compared to the images I saw everywhere- on television, in magazines, and later, across social media. I learned early that restriction could change my body, and that sense of control became intoxicating. What started as subtle behaviors slowly turned into a deeply disordered and shame-filled relationship with food.

When I left home to attend Chapman University, I entered an environment that quietly, and sometimes loudly, rewarded thinness and a picture-perfect life. My eating disorder intensified, eventually evolving into Anorexia Nervosa and later Bulimia Nervosa. Food became something I feared, manipulated, and obsessed over, even though it had once been a source of incredible joy and connection.

In the spring of 2020, everything changed. Being forced home during a global shutdown also forced me to confront my reality. With my parents close enough to truly see what was happening, I was faced with a choice: pursue healing through nutrition and therapy, or enter inpatient treatment. I chose recovery: A decision that saved my life.

Through working closely with a dietitian and therapist, I learned that no level of thinness could compare to the richness of a full and nourished life. Recovery wasn’t linear or perfect, but it was honest. During that time, I slowly found my way back to the kitchen. I relearned how to cook, rebuilt a foundation of nutrition and movement, and reconnected with the creativity and curiosity that first drew me to food.

Today, I don’t believe in perfection, because perfection now isn’t the goal. My goal has been to build a life I love, imperfections and all, and to support others in doing the same. As a nutrition coach and eating disorder advocate, my work is rooted in compassion, lived experience, and the belief that healing is possible with the right support. I can’t wait to work with you to achieve a nourished life.
